Wine Storage

Wine Racks | Wine Coolers | Wine Cellars
Wine Stoppers | Wine Savers

The most important thing to keep in mind when storing wine is to keep it away from heat and dryness. Heat can accelerate the aging process and cause the wine to go bad. Dryness can cause the cork to shrink or crumble and let in oxygen. The best way to store wine is on its side, keeping the wine in contact with the cork to keep it moist.

The ideal tempature to store wine is 55 degrees F. This makes the basement, cellar or cooler the best choice for long term storage. Variations of less than 3° a day and 5° a year are best.

The two main questions that will determine your storage method are:

  1. How many bottles are you going to store?
  2. How long will you be storing your wine?
